Michael_Æ is a program. The software itself is not the most important aspect, but rather the data Hosts have contributed. The Founder has taken this a step further by making both the source code and the data available to editors. This means that any editor can download a copy of the Michael_Æ database and start up their own copy. They can then modify their copy of the software to work however they please.
